From: hair removalist :) consider the following if you choose to go that way:
pain: there's not much meat between the bone of your scalp and skin therefore not much cushioning (if i can call it that). there is much less sensation on meaty areas of the body such as upper legs, buttocks, upper arms etc.
patches: ipl or laser devices usually have square or rectangular or round crystals. no operator can guarantee an even coverage, especially in the first few sessions. so you may be patchy for a while.
side effects: pigmentation is one of possible side effects of the treatments. areas such as scalp, breast bone, sheen bone etc (less meaty areas) are more prone to pigmentation.
effectiveness: the method is classified as permanent hair reduction rather than complete removal. this means that a small amount of hair will regrow and maintenance sessions may be needed.
hair color: as you are 45 years old you may have started getting grey hairs. light-based treatments (ipl/laser) target pigment in the hair follicle. it is not effective on white, yellow and red hairs.
